DIETRICH SCENE CONSULTING
Heather Dietrich has spent approximately 12 1/2 years in law enforcement; in both corrections and as a Crime Scene Technician in a major Midwest city. Ms. Dietrich obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Forensics - Technical Investigations. She has testified numerous times as a Crime Scene Technician.
She has provided training to members of the Kansas City Police Department and to outside agencies from several states. Courses she has taught include Shooting Reconstruction, Crime Scene Preservation, Crime Scene Sketching and Diagramming, and Processing Dead Bodies.
Over the past 8 years she has pursued her love of shooting reconstruction and has spent hundreds of hours researching, testing, teaching, and receiving additional training in the field. She is expanding her scope and beginning to research the dynamics of police shootings to include the psychological, physical, and physiological effects on an officer during these incident.
Ms. Dietrich served as a master instructor where she taught Criminal Investigations and Criminalistics courses. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration with a focus in Criminal Justice, and is working on her dissertation where she is studying the correlation between the CSI Effect and the myths and misconceptions the public holds about Officer-Involved Shootings (OISs).
